Change: From the Past
to the Future
Embry Riddle prides itself on being a technology enriched school that emphasizes
on learning through collaboration and teamwork. What kind of message would Embry
Riddle be sending to its students if its faculty and staff did not adhere to the
organizational mission and vision?
Organizational development provides an organization such as Embry
Riddle the ability to survive through the change process.
A little over a year ago, Embry Riddle implemented a new operating system
Campus Solutions. Campus Solutions, an internet based software program created
by PeopleSoft, allowed for easier access to student account information; ultimately
changing the way students and faculty obtained information on Admissions,
Academics, Finance, extra. Like any organizational change, there were rough
patches that cause delays in processing for all departments. As a result, it
became vital for all departments to work together as a team to effetely solve
problems and return processes to normal.
Without collaboration and effective communication between and among
departments, the transition process from DataTel to Campus Solutions would have
been detrimental and the organization as a whole would have suffered.
Over the past year, Embry Riddle has proven that it cannot only
implement change; it can also foster collaboration and teamwork during the
change process. This concept is extremely important to organizational success.
